Para el caso de los insectos el mayormente capturado fue Dendroctonus frontalis Zimmermann .___________This work realizes the first exploration of forestry pest and diseases present in plantations that have been benefited by the Forest Incentive Program of Guatemala (PINFOR for its Spanish name) during the September 2006 and March 2007 period. Land rounds to the selected plantations with sampling intervals of 15 days were realized. In each sampling round, trees with abnormal symptoms were identified. A revision of these trees was done to confirm the presence of insects and/or diseases caused by pathogens. The insects were collected in small bottles with alcohol at 70%, in the case of the diseases in humid chamber of plastic bags. For the identification, entomological and phytopathological taxonomic keys were used in the Phytosanitary Diagnosis Laboratory of the Food, Livestock and Agricultural Ministry of Guatemala. A higher number of forest diseases were found due to the high rainfall reported during the sampling period, being Lophodermiun pinastri Schrad the disease mostly found. In the case of insects, the main specie captured was Dendroctonus frontalis Zimmermann.
